Heka personifies, above all, the life force, or ka, in action. As such, it is the expression of a kind of knowledge that is proper to each divinity and enables him or her to act on the basis of intuitive, omniscient knowledge of all that exists. Human beings also dispose of this life force, which makes it possible for them to exist; thus they too can have recourse with Heka. This Heka enables them to communicate with the divine world, which bathes in the same energy. In religious or ritual framework different from that found at the temples, the use of Heka thus made it an approximate equivalent of magic.
